Prep boys, girls hoops in full swing

Area schools went a perfect 5-0 Tuesday in high school basketball. In girls hoops Tuesday, Belen girls (1-2) handled Socorro 52-15.

Los Lunas (5-1) continued an impressive start Monday, defeating La Cueva 60-42. The Tigers traveled to Alamogordo Tuesday and won 63-35.

Valencia (4-3) hosted Los Alamos Tuesday and prevailed 50-22. VHS went 2-1 to finish fifth in the Capital City Tournament.

In boys action, Belen went 1-2 in the Sandia Prep Tournament. Tuesday, BHS won 68-42 at Moriarty. The Eagles (3-2) host Roswell Goddard Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Hub City Tournament.

The rest of the schedule Thursday features Rio Grande versus Centennial at 3 p.m., and Albuquerque High against Mayfield starting at 4:30 p.m. The tournament continues Friday and Saturday.

Los Lunas (2-4) was 1-2 in the Artesia Tournament, with a win over Deming. Tuesday, LLHS defeated Capital 52-42. Thursday, the Tigers play Santa Fe Indian School to start a tournament at Cleveland.

Valencia (3-4) fell to Las Vegas Robertson 70-57 on Monday. Last week, VHS went 1-2 in the Capital City Tournament.
