Belen Community Art Exhibit: Pocket Park
The Belen Public Library, the city of Belen, Belen Arts League and Belen MainStreet are announcing, “Pocket Park,” a community art exhibit curated by artist Paula Castillo.
This exhibit will feature community artwork from the Belen Water Tower Pocket Park workshop series funded in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Pocket Park showcases community ideas and inspirations to re-activate the Belen Water Tower as a community space in time for its 100th birthday in 2028. Ideas range from the fantastical to visionary small park ideas.
This project is currently in the experimental phase and community members are looking forward to acquiring funding to move towards activating an actual park for all of Belen to enjoy in the future.
The Pocket Park exhibit will be available for viewing in the Red Brick Building, 513 Becker Ave., Belen, and will be up from Sept. 28, through Oct.19. Visitors are welcome to see the exhibit during library hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
