Scarecrow Exhibit

Kathleen Pickering, Belen Public Library director, and art educator Paula Castillo announced “Scarecrow,” a Belen Consolidated Schools student art exhibit hosted by the Belen Public Library and curated by the Young Curators Club from Infinity High School.

This exhibit will feature student artwork inspired by “Scarecrow,” a children’s book written by Cynthia Rylant and illustrated by Lauren Stringer. Students exhibiting are K-6, La Promesa Elementary (Laura Wacha); K-6, La Merced Elementary (Alicia Cargile); K-3, Rio Grande Elementary (Paula Castillo); 9-12, Belen High School (Egan Ulbricht); and celebrated guest artists from Veronica Maldonado’s Belen Middle School class, facilitated by Gail Tate, MA, CTRS, BCS Recreational Therapist.

“Scarecrow” will be available for viewing beginning with the opening reception from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Belen Public Library community room. The opening reception will coincide with Belen’s annual Scarecrow Festival, sponsored by the City of Belen, the Belen Art League, and the Bugg Lights Museum. The exhibit will be up through November.
