Third annual Rainbow Walk and more in the Hub City

BELEN — On Saturday, June 24, The GRID Gallery, located in Silver-Bar Studios at 106 Becker Ave., in Belen, will host the third annual Rainbow Walk on east Becker Ave.
The intersection of Second Street and Becker Avenue will be a destination for site-specific and innovative art, from feminist artist, Judy Chicago’s Smoke Sculptures to gallery owner and curator, Megan Malcom-Morgan’s experimental art practices and temporary installations in time and space.
The Belen Arts District will be open from 12-6 p.m., with events including:
- Live Art Rainbow Exhibition: At 3 p.m. at Becker Avenue and Second Street, a site-specific exhibition of vibrant color unfolds as they will create a rainbow in the street with aerial chalk.
- “Forever, Color”: A colorful photography and art exhibition at The GRID Gallery and Silver-Bar Studios from 12-6 p.m. with an artists’ reception from 3-6 p.m., featuring Chavez Brothers Winery. Photography artists include Danny Bernal Jr., Daniel O. Montaño, Cristel Téllez and Pat Sanchez
- “Think TWICE”: A fine art exhibition at Studio 508, at 508 Becker Ave., with work by Maya Chacon.
- “Somewhere Under the Rainbow”: The Bugg Lights Museum, 513 Becker Ave., will host a “Wizard of Oz” themed display with characters from the movie.
- Community Gallery Night: The Hub City Art Collective, 210 Becker Ave., will host a community gallery exhibition in support of the Rainbow Walk.
- Black & White: A pop-up art show by Gaze Gallery, 208 Becker Ave., next door to the Hub City Art Collective.
- Paint N Sip: The Belen Art League Gallery and Gift Store, 509 Becker Ave., will have a tickets-only paint n sip at 6 p.m. Contact the Belen Art League for details and tickets.
