Madrids to mark 50th wedding anniversary

Andrew and Gloria Madrid, of Los Chavez, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 9. The couple was married in 1971 at San Jose Catholic Church in Albuquerque.

Andrew and Gloria met while they were in elementary school, and became high school sweethearts while at Albuquerque High School. They built their home in Los Chavez more than 40 years ago, and still continue to love the area. They are both retired, and love spending time with their grandchildren.

Andrew retired after 32 years as as a traffic control supervisor for Cutler repaving. He graduated from Albuquerque High School, and enjoys gardening and raising his goats.

Gloria retired as a courier at X-Ray Associates. She is also an AHS graduate, and enjoys crocheting and photography.

Their children are Amanda Grine and her partner, Henry Barrett, of Tome, and Samantha Montoya of Tome. They have five grandchildren.

They will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary with family.
