Bosque Farms yard is August Yard of the Month

The Valencia County Extension Master Gardeners have chosen the yard of Ashley and Justin Bossard as the August Yard and Garden of the Month in the contest co-sponsored by the Valencia County News-Bulletin.

The Bossards moved to their Bosque Farms property four years ago. Ashley has spent countless hours researching plants, bushes, evergreens and perennials to develop their courtyard into a pollinator paradise. She developed different areas in the yard to have a focal point surrounded by symmetrical pots, plants, trees and garden decor.

There are varieties of Salvia, Meadow Sage, Rose of Sharon, Desert Willows, Agastache and Honeysuckle, all of which attract pollinator insects and hummingbirds.

Being handy with welding, Justin has built several metal hummingbird feeding stations, following the symmetrical theme. Between all the hummingbird feeding stations he built and the feeders around the gazebo, there are a total of 40 feeders in the courtyard. Ashley is busy filling up the feeders three times a day, stating, “The hummingbirds come by the hundreds!” Her next project in the yard is developing the fire pit area.

The Bossards take great pride in their yard and work hard to keep it trimmed and clean. Ashley, Justin and their three boys certainly have a wonderful place to hang out and entertain guests. Congratulations to the Bossards!
