Los Lunas King of the Hill 2026

The Village of Los Lunas Parks and Recreation Department hosted the 11th annual King of the Hill trail run on Saturday, March 8 on Los Lunas Hill. Over 349 runners participated in the event, including 180 in the 5K race alone. Recreation supervisor Matthew Jaramillo said the even had the most participants on record this year.

  • In the men’s half-marathon race, Derek Logan of Belen (1:47:47) finished 1st, while Evan Locke (1:42:19) and Brett Winegar finished second and third, respectively.

  • In the women’s half-marathon, Whitney Barrett_Kaucher (:54:30) took 1st while Greta Rickauer (2:01:34) and Sarah Bradley (2:08:54) places second and third respectively.

  • In the men’s 10K race, Merle Dayzie (49:02) and Jesse Espinoza of Los Lunas (50:49) took second and third while first place went to Jonah Ruybalid (41:51. In the women’s 10K, Maggie Edminston (54:42) placed first while Macy Billstarnd )of Belen (57:06) and Madeline Quante (1:00:11) placed second and third.

  • In the 10K rucksack race, Clifford Matthews (1:06:25) took first place while George Gabaldon (1:14:59) and Joey Romero (1:20:04) finished second and third.

  • In the women’s 10K rucksack event, Franchesca Castillo of Belen (1:24:55) placed first and Michael Dutton of Rio Communities (1:26:53) placed second and Marissa Kittredge (1:27:01) took 3rd.

  • In the 5K race, Eloy Urtiaga (20:12) and Arturo Fierro (21:30), both of Los Lunas finished second and third respectively, with Tyrell Natewa (19:43) finishing in the first place.

  • In the 5K women’s race, Belen’s Hannah Baca (26:11) and Ezra Naomi Baca (26:58) placed second and third while Kimberly Chapman-Natewa (24:23)placed first.
