Los Lunas Fire Department introduces information sharing platform with residents
LOS LUNAS — The Los Lunas Fire Department is rolling out a new, online platform for village residents that will allow the department “to protect our residents and their property in the most effective way possible.”
At a recent Los Lunas Village Council meeting, LLFD Fire Chief John Gabaldon introduced Community Connect — a free platform that allows residents to create secure profiles that shares critical information about their household and will aid first responders when responding to the residence.
“We feel this is going to actually help us better serve our community through communications from them to us,” said Gabaldon.
The fire chief then played a video that provided more details.
“There are many valuable pieces of critical information that can help save lives and property in a real emergency that we don’t know until we arrive at your door … but now, with Community Connect, you have the power to keep us informed of nearly everything that matters so we can better serve you when emergency strikes,” the video stated.
Signing up is easy from any internet connected device. It just takes a phone number, email and an address. Residents can be rest assured that all data is safe and only available to first responders during the time of response using the same data security and encryption standards found in online banking. If you have five minutes to sign up, you can create your profile and get started helping your first responders help you.”
The kind of critical information sought ranges from information on your property, your pets, residents of the home, emergency contacts and medical needs.
Gabaldon said the platform is easy to use, and has been successfully beta-tested with residents at Jubilee’s active adult community in Los Lunas.
“It’s already shown that it works very well. They gave us a lot of positive feedback,” said Gabaldon.
The fire chief said there are a lot of community members in the village whose family lives out of state. Should something happen, first responders can quickly pull up their information and “we can start helping them make calls and stuff like that and advocate for them if they’re unable to advocate for themselves.”
Now that the platform is ready to be implemented village-wide, Gabaldon said they will be continuing to introduce it to residents and encouraging them to sign up.
