Los Lunas honored for its fiscal budget
The village of Los Lunas has announced that its Fiscal Year 2025 budget document has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
The GFOA states that “(t)he award represents a significant achievement by the entity. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting.”
According to GFOA, these guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:
• A policy document
• A financial plan
• An operations guide
• A communications device
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
The village’s finance department works year-round on budget preparation and management, and the receipt of this award demonstrates that the FY 2025 budget is proficient as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device, in accordance with the standards set forth by the GFOA.
This is the third year that the village of Los Lunas has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, after having been previously awarded in 2021 and 2022.
