Los Lunas recreation supervisor accepts new role within the village
LOS LUNAS — Marcos Castillo, of the Los Lunas Parks and Recreation Division, is moving on to new pastures come April.
After serving as the recreation supervisor for the past 11 years, Castillo recently accepted the human resources manager role for the village of Los Lunas, which he’ll begin on April 3.
Castillo recently completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the UNM Anderson School of Management and began seeking roles for which it could be applied.
“It’s a very diverse degree, and pretty versatile so it can be used in a bunch of different fields,” Castillo said.
While he’s excited for his new role, Castillo said he will miss his team and interaction with the community at special events.
“I was not in a hurry to leave my current position because I love what I do, and our team over here is the best, but when I saw the opportunity come up, I decided to apply for it.”
Being that it’s a new field for him, Castillo said he is looking forward to learning and is excited to work with a new group of professionals
“I’m looking forward to seeing how everything operates on the human resources side, and to be able to make an impact on the community in a different way than I have for the last 11 years,” Castillo said. “I hope to contribute as best as I can and be the best I can for our employees because all our employees are all really good public servants.”
