Los Lunas woman died from overdose
LOS LUNAS — The suspicious death of a Los Lunas woman last year has been ruled an overdose by the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator.
“Unfortunately, the OMI toxicology report showed a toxic level of a controlled substance in her system,” said Los Lunas Police Chief Frank Lucero on Feb. 11. “This was devastating news for her family.”
On Nov. 21, 2025, LLPD officers were dispatched for a welfare check on Coronado Lane in the village of Los Lunas at about 6 a.m. A witness called 911 to report a woman lying in the street.
When officers arrived, they found the 35-year-old woman was deceased. They began an investigation into the suspicious death, Lucero said last year, which included doing a safety sweep of her home and contacting her next-of-kin.
