News-Bulletin changes to one section next week

BELEN — In August, the Albuquerque Journal and the Santa Fe New Mexican announced the Journal and its sister publications — including the Valencia County News-Bulletin, El Defensor Chieftain in Socorro and the Rio Rancho Observer — will be printed at the New Mexican’s production facility.

Robin Martin, president of the New Mexican, and William P. Lang, president of the Journal, said printing the newspapers at a single facility is much more efficient.

With a shift in printing locations, the Valencia County News-Bulletin is also undergoing a slight change to its weekly publication.

Beginning next week with the Thursday, Oct. 15, edition, the News-Bulletin will be consolidating its two sections into one section.

The change is due to the printing limitations at the New Mexican, but it won’t affect the number of pages or content in the News-Bulletin.

“While we will be going to one section, we are not downsizing the amount of pages or the quality of journalism and advertising availability in the News-Bulletin,” said editor/publisher Clara Garcia. “We are continuing our commitment to the community, our readers and our advertisers.

“The newspaper will continue to do what we do every day and every week, and won’t skip a beat,” she added. “It’s going to be a change we’ll all have to get used to.”

The Valencia County News-Bulletin is owned by Number Nine Media, Inc., a subsidiary of the Albuquerque Publishing Company.
