DWI checkpoints

The Bosque Farms Police Department will be conducting DWI checkpoints and DWI directed patrols during the upcoming spring and summer months, March 2026 through July 2026.

Operation Tiny Tots

The Daniel D. Fernandez VFW Post 9676, 1201 N.M. 314, in Los Lunas is hosting its fourth annual “Operation Tiny Tots,” which is a collection of items for infants and toddlers, specifically for newborns up to 3 years old. Donations of diapers and formula, new or gently-used clothing items and other infant care essentials will be appreciated. The VFW will be collecting physical items at the post during the first three Saturdays in March. For those who cannot visit in person, they are also accepting monetary donations through their local website at vfw9676.org.

Photo contest

The Rio Communities Optimist Club is sponsoring a photo contest for students from elementary through high school. Gift cards will be awarded to first, second and third-place winners in three grade groups, with a grand prize winner. Entries are due by Monday, April 13. Senior line dance team registration

The Valencia County Senior Olympics Line Dance Team will be holding a dance exhibition at 10 a.m., Friday, April 24, at Daniel Fernandez Recreation Center in Los Lunas. If anyone is interested in participating in this event, the registration deadline is Friday, March 20. There is a $10 donation to register or anyone can come out and watch the event. Light refreshments, raffle tickets and door prizes will be offered at the event.

Young Eagles flight

EAA Chapter 530 will host a Young Eagles Flight from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, March 21, at Mid Valley Air Park. The goal of EAA Young Eagles Program is to introduce children, ages 8-17, to general aviation and by giving them a free flight. For information, call 505-450-3892 or 505-249-4530.

Student art show

The Los Lunas Museum of Heritage and Arts is featuring the “Route 66: Our Roots Are on the Route” annual Student Art Show from March 21 to May 9. The opening reception will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, March 21, at the museum. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday. Admission is free.

Spring craft fair

Horizon Church Spring Craft Fair is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 21, at the church, 1070 Bosque Farms Blvd. They are accepting vendors. Contact Cheri Kulp at 505-527-3255.

Death of the Messiah Passion Play

The annual Passion Play, “Death of the Messiah,” is scheduled to be performed at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 21, at the Los Lunas Transportation Center, 101 Courthouse Road, Los Lunas; at 6 p.m., Saturday, March 28, at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish hall in Peralta; and at 7 p.m., Friday, April 3, and at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 4, at the Belen High School auditorium. Admission to the performances are free but donations are accepted.

Flag football for girls

Cleats & Confidence, a local organization founded by Abigail Macias, Miss Valencia County Teen 2026, is hosting a free flag football clinic for girls from 12-2 p.m., Sunday, March 22, at Huning Ranch Park in Los Lunas. All skill levels welcome. For information, call 505-459-1451.

Mad Hatter Scholarship Tea

Tickets are on sale for the Belen Art League’s Mad Hatter Scholarship Tea, which will be held Sunday, March 22, with two seatings, noon and 2:30 p.m. Ticket price is $20, children 10 and younger are $10. There will be an art raffle, door prizes and hat contest. Tickets must be paid prior to event. Pay in person at 509 Becker Ave., Belen, or call 505-861-0217.

Career Fair

Looking for your next opportunity? Join Goodwill Industries at their Community Career Fair, where more than 10 local employers will be hiring for positions in a variety of fields. The fair will be held from 1-3 p.m., Thursday, March 26, at Goodwill Industries, 201 Desert Willow NE, Los Lunas.

Candidate forum

A candidate forum featuring Democrats, Republicans and Independents running in the Primary Election will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, March 28, at the Belen Public Library, 222 Becker Ave., Belen. This event is free and open to the public.
