Public meeting for the proposed Jarales Road and railroad bridge

The New Mexico Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the BNSF Railway, will hold a virtual public meeting to discuss a proposed highway–rail grade separation of Jarales Road between Trujillo Road and Camino De Crystal.

The project would include realignment of Jarales Road, a grade separation structure, and new frontage road access. Additional project information can be viewed at dot.state.nm.us/nmdotprojects.

The NMDOT cannot hold in-person public meetings under the current COVID-19 restrictions. The meeting will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18.

The purpose of the virtual meeting is to present the project purpose and need, alternatives considered, the preferred alternative, funding and the project schedule. A narrated PowerPoint presentation will be given, followed by a public, comment/question-and-answer period. Project representatives will be available to address questions and discuss the proposed improvements.

The specific need for the project is to address critical conditions at the current crossing including physical deficiencies, safety, travel congestion and system connectivity.
