  • Hispano Scholarship application is open

The Hispano Chamber of Valencia County scholarship application is now open. The scholarship is open to Valencia County graduating high school students in May 2025, who have been admitted to college or trade school anywhere. There is also a continuing college student community incentive scholarship, to enrolled and continuing UNM-Valencia college students.

Students will need to submit letter of recommendation as well as their high school transcript in the online application at the time they apply, so please note they should have those ready to upload at the time they are submitting their application. Students do not need to be Hispanic to apply, the minimum requirement is 2.5 GPA and they must reside in Valencia County (permanent address).

The deadline to apply is April 15, 2025. Visit hispanochambervc.org/scholarship-application.

  • Tim Lardner Memorial Scholarship

The Greater Valencia County Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the Tim Lardner Memorial Scholarship. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 15. To obtain an application, call the chamber office at 505-864-8091 or email rhona@belenchamber.org.

  • Deborah Graham Memorial Scholarship

Belen seniors are encouraged to apply for the $1,000 Deborah Graham Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded by the Friends of the Belen Public Library. The deadline to apply is April 18. Apply by calling 503-730-9069, email stephanieraether@gmail.com or go by the Belen Public Library, 333 Becker Ave.

  • Jay Torrez Memorial Scholarship

The Jay Torrez Memorial Scholarship is in honor of Jay Torrez, of Tomé. College baseball took him to Southern California, and pursued a career as a Hollywood stuntman. He worked on feature films, TV shows, music videos, and video games as well as stunt coordinating a few gigs of his own. This scholarship is to honor the memory of Jay Torrez and support high school senior students interested in obtaining higher education.

Applicants must be a graduating senior from Valencia, Belen, Infinity, Century, Los Lunas high schools or School of Dreams Academy, or pursuing an undergraduate level degree (any major acceptable). Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Please provide an essay/personal statement describing your educational and career goals and how this scholarship will help you achieve those goals.

Applications are available at respective schools and at The Los Lunas Museum of Heritage and Arts, 251 Main St., Los Lunas. The deadline is April 30, 2025. For additional information, call Regina at 505-227-6986. Email completed applications to jaytorrezmemorialscholarship@gmail.com.

  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Commission annual educational award

Students within the Belen Consolidated Schools district who will attend an accredited college, university, vocational or technical institution are invited to apply for three, $500 educational awards given by the Belen Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Multicultural Commission. Return a completed application to the Belen Public Library, 333 Becker Ave., Belen, by 4 p.m., Friday, May 2.

Applications are available at the Belen Public Library, Belen High School, Infinity High School and Canon Christian Academy. For information, contact Kathleen Pickering at 505-966-2604.

  • BAL Scholarships

The Belen Art League has scholarship applications available for high school seniors within the Belen Consolidated Schools district. Applications can be picked up at the Belen Art League Gallery, 509 Becker Ave., or they can email you one. Contact them at belenartleague1@gmail.com.
