Aurora C. Jaramillo, age 96, joined our Lord and Savior at her home on Aug. 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Aurora was born in Albuquerque to Vicente and Matilda Chavez on Dec. 17, 1927. Aurora met her loving husband, Alfredo Jaramillo, and were married for 73 years before his death in 2020. They lived in Belen, where her nine children were born and raised. The two of them were inseparable until his last breath.
Aurora was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic. She loved listening to and praying the Rosary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vicente and Matilda Chavez; nine siblings and three grandchildren, Edrick Andrew Jaramillo Jr. (JJ) Jaramillo and Anthony Olguin.
Aurora’s main job was raising her family. She also had careers working at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School and at St Mary’s Catholic School. Aurora enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband and her family. This included many fishing and boating trips to Rhinelander, Wisc., where they would spend time with her brother-in-law and sister at their home.
When her kids were younger she always had room for the kids friends to join them on their weekend outings. Aurora was blessed with a large family, she had nine siblings,
She is survived by her one remaining sister, Elena Chavez Mueller. Aurora has nine children, Imelda White (Ron), Rudy (Rebecca), Edrick (Grisel), Lourella Jaramillo, Frank (Evelyn), Yolanda Montoya (Julian), Martha Carrillo (Anthony), Delbert (Marilyn) and Patsy Baca (Tony).
She was blessed with 25 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Ambercare Hospice team for their care and thoughtfulness over the time they cared for Aurora. The family would also like to thank Chaplin Joel, who often prayed and sang with her.
The pallbearers are her grandsons, Danny Silva, Alfred White, Ronnie White, Dominic Gurule, Leonard Jaramillo, Tommy Jaramillo, Anthony Sanchez, Eddie Jaramillo, Andrew Gomez and Mark Baca. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Bernadette Perez, Dianne Baca, Natalie Acanfrio, Starlette Atterbom, Andrea Gomez, Lisa Foster, Teresa Stone, Rachel Jaramillo, Valerie McCartney, Charlene Griego, April Gurule and Taylar Crampton.
Services were held on Monday, Aug. 26, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment followed at Las Nutrias Catholic Cemetery.
