Baloy Contreras, age 79, a resident of La Joya, passed away peacefully on Aug. 30, 2024, surrounded by many of his family members.

He was the son of Refugio and Rufina Contreras and was born on April 1, 1945, in La Joya. He was the oldest of 11 brothers and sisters.

Baloy was always full of life, he loved to tell stories of growing up in La Joya. He enjoyed nature and enjoyed the wonders of the night sky and beautiful stars. He will greatly be missed and was loved by all his family and friends.

Baloy is preceded in death by his parents, Rufina and Refugio Contreras; and by his brother, Juan.

He is survived by his children Baloy Jr., Alicia Telesfora, Teresa, Joanna (Kythera) and Vincent; siblings, Connie Boyd, and brother-in-law, Lou Boyd, Rosemarie and husband, Max Cordova, Naria and husband, Ralph Maes, Esperfia Mills and brother-in-law, Earl Mills, Wilfred, Maria Luz, Ramona and Reynaldo Contreras and wife, Benita, and Patric Contreras and wife, Denise. He had several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
