Andrea “Dre” Nichole Gurule
1985-2025
With very heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Andrea “Dre” Nichole Gurule, a loving daughter, sister, aunt, fiancé and friend. Andrea departed this world leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Andrea was a dedicated woman to her faith, family, cousins and friends. Andrea will be deeply missed by many.
Andrea is survived by her loving father, Jose Maria Gurule; and loving brothers, Matthew Gurule (Nicole), and Marcus Gurule (Tiffany); her beautiful nephews, Isaiah, Noah, Dominic, Preston, Joseph and Lucas; and her wonderful fiancé, Jefferson (Jeff) Vandrew Jr.
Andrea now reunites in Heaven with her beloved mother, Marilyn O. Gurule; Jose’s parents, Herman and Josefita B. Gurule; and Marilyn’s parents, Vicente and Elsie Olguin; along with many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Andrea was born to Jose and Marilyn (originally from Belen) in Apple Valley, Calif., on April 15, 1985. She was their “tax” baby, always reminding everyone to do their taxes.
The Gurule family relocated to Belen, where Andrea excelled academically and participated in the marching band. She then graduated from Belen High School, class of 2003.
Andrea was a wonderful spirit to have lived. If you encountered Andrea, she sure would have made you laugh with her quick wits and her hilarious jokes. No one knew Andrea to be in a bad mood or angry with anyone.
Andrea was the beauty and the laughter that always brightened any room up. If you ever met Andrea, your friendship or relationship was sure to be a close one, she was a very welcoming person. Andrea was a very talented young woman, conquering anything thrown her way. She played and mastered many instruments, such as the flute, piccolo and trumpet.
After high school, she studied to be a phlebotomist and worked at Tri-Core before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she continued in the medical field as a health analyst. Living in Utah, Andrea enjoyed hiking and scenic walks.
One of Andrea’s many endeavors was moving to New York. She lived in Middletown and braved the coldest of winters, where she continued to work. She worked for Nuvance Health in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., before relocating to Florida.
Andrea spent the last few years of her life residing in Flagler Beach, Fla., with her soulmate and fiancé, Jeff. Andrea worked remotely in their beach house, at Actalent Scientific for Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, N.Y.
Andrea was a frequent attendee at the couple’s parish, Santa Maria del Mar. Andrea frequently visited New Mexico to visit her family and spend time with her favorite little people — her nephews. Among their adventures together were rock climbing and hiking Tomé Hill. Baking cookies and bread were always among their favorites.
Andrea will be greatly missed and will be brought home to her final resting place, next to her momma.

1945-2025
Glenna Louise Luna peacefully passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, in Albuquerque, at the age of 79.
Services will take place on Saturday, March 29, at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, starting with a visitation at 9 a.m., a celebration of life to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, John (Chris), Lisa (Kenny), Danny, James (Lindsay) and Vicky (Jeff); grandchildren, Justin Whalen, Tyler Luna, Brandon Alexander, Alyssa Luna, James Luna Jr., Ashley Gonzalez, Jacob Luna and Loraine Luna; and great-grandchildren, Alexis Whalen, Braydon Luna, Holden Alexander, Everly Luna and Kaleo Luna.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, John Luna; her son, Richard Glen Luna; her father, Glen Deemer; and her mother, Wilma Deemer.
Glenna was born in 1945 in Pampa, Texas, to Glen and Wilma Deemer. She grew up as an only child; however, had a younger brother who passed shortly after birth. The family moved from Texas to Belen in 1954.
Glenna married the love of her life, John Luna, in 1961, and welcomed their first child Johnny, in 1962. In 1964, the family moved to San Jose, Calif., where Glenna raised her growing family of five children that now included, Lisa, Danny and the twins, James and Vicky.
Her children remember her as a tiny person with a giant personality, who fiercely protected her children first and foremost. She was a dedicated mother and, when John retired, the family moved back to Belen in 1988 to be closer to her parents.
Loving mother, grandmother, ma, great-grandmother, wife and friend, she was known for her feisty and witty nature, Glenna was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Glenna volunteered as a coach for the Special Olympics alongside her husband John for many years. It was a special thing to see the bond that her and the athletes shared with each other. Over the years her and the athletes became more of a family. Even when she would see one of her athletes recently having been out of coaching for a while you could hear, “hey coach,” which would be followed by a great big hug.
She devoted her life to taking care of her son, Danny, and family always putting herself last. She enjoyed going to an occasional movie, trips to Walmart, Taco Tuesdays and frequent trips to Sonic for their favorite drinks with her son, Danny.
Glenna also enjoyed going to the casino, where win or lose, she always had fun. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family and was incredibly proud of each of them. Christmas and Thanksgiving were always a special time where the family would gather as they always looked forward to their favorite meals that Glenna would prepare.
She had a special talent for cooking and was so prideful to see her family enjoy these meals. She loved the fact that Danny was the first one to the table and how much he loved her holiday cooking, especially her dressing. Her stacked enchiladas were the envy of the enchilada world and will be missed as no one made them like her. She truly loved serving her family and spending time all together.
The family requests donations to be made to the Special Olympics at SONM.org.
