Christians should base votes on biblical principles

Editor:

I am writing a response to Paul Kinzelman’s “Elections have consequences” letter.

The first thing that needs to be clarified is the definition of refugee. Webster’s defines a refugee as a person who is forced to flee his or her country because of political oppression, religious persecution, war or a natural disaster.

Jesus’s family definitely were refugees fleeing religious persecution. Even though there are truly refugees seeking safety in the United States, it would be extremely naive to think that millions of people who crossed our borders are refugees.

I find it interesting that you reference Jesus with certain scripture verses without considering everything He told His followers to do. (see Romans 13 :1-3) Scripture agrees with Sen. Bonne about coming into the United States the proper way.

When you stated that children were separated from their family, there was no mention of the thousands of children that were separated in another country and illegally brought across the border by coyotes and traffickers to face unimaginable danger. Some have been rescued but thousands are unaccounted for.

Policies that require able-bodied people to do some sort of work to receive assistance isn’t wrong. (Teach a man to fish or give him a fish)

Human life is sacred to God, and any decision a woman makes should be between her and God. There are numerous scriptural references about God’s thoughts on that decision. (Psalm 139:13-16)

Sex education should come from parents not a public school teacher whose values and beliefs might not be in line with theirs.

In closing I agree with you and Sen. Boone that elections have consequences. Everyone who is a follower of Jesus Christ should base their votes on biblical principles.

Trump believes he can do whatever he wants as president

Editor:

In a power grab, pathological liar Trump tried to fire a governor of an independent agency, the Federal Reserve Bank.

He claims she is guilty of crimes, providing no evidence. This is what dictators like Putin or Xi of China do.

Tax cheat Trump issued a slew of tariffs (enjoy paying for them). A federal appeals court has ruled many of those are illegal. But fraudster Trump received a reprieve as the waffling court said we will let those stand until the Supremes look at this (don’t expect action soon).

The Trump cabal knew going into office that you can get almost anything delayed in court. In the meantime, the unstable Trump is allowed to continue doing whatever he wants, legal or not. This tactic was planned.

The Trump regime regularly selectively refuses to spend funds already appropriated by Congress. Congress responds with “OK!” Sometimes the regime also illegally claws back and rescinds funds Congress appropriated. Congress says, “OK!”

On another subject, our military’s purpose is to defend the American people against foreign threats and is forbidden by law from operating within the USA. So what, draft dodger Trump responds? He uses our armed forces as his own military any way he likes.

Convicted felon Trump claims he will eliminate crime by putting military troops in cities like Washington and Chicago.

Will he eliminate crime? Just like he ended the Ukraine-Russia war on day one? Or how he brought down food prices on day one? Who believes this stuff?

The Trump regime is engaged in a slow rolling coup d’etat, and millions of Americans will sleep through the coup and one day wake up wondering why their country looks like Russia, North Korea or China.

The vindictive Trump has said more than once that he is the president and can do whatever he wants. He truly believes that.

To those who think the United States has always been a democracy and always will be, ask the people of Venezuela, Belarus, or the German people in 1933 how that worked out.
