Trying to kill oil and gas revenues in the state

Editor:

Not just “two peas in a pod” but quite a few peas in a single pod.

That “pod” is the leftist control of our state and country. There are many Democrat peas that want to eliminate the oil and gas industry. To name a few, Kamala Harris, Michelle Lujan Grisham, Martin Heinrich, Gabe Vasquez and any politician in favor of the net-zero agenda and banning fracking.

So Kamala Harris now says that she would not ban fracking. If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. We know she is still in favor of banning fracking because she is still in favor of the net-zero agenda, which requires the banning of fracking along with all other fossil fuel activities.

“The Biden/Harris administration has already shown us that they will try to do everything they can to ban fossil fuels in pursuit of net-zero — and that they will only be limited by pro-fossil fuel political opponents’ opposition and the resistance of voters,” said Alex Epstein.

As for Lujan-Grisham, Martin Heinrich and Gabe Vasquez, they are lemmings falling over the cliff aligning themselves with the Democrat Party agenda; i.e. The Green New Deal. Never mind that the oil and gas industry in this state provides them with billions of dollars to spend for their socialist/Marxist programs. Makes one wonder what in heaven’s name they are thinking.

But they all have been trying to kill the oil and gas industry for years and will continue to do so no matter what they try to tell you. It’s an election year, and the flip-flopping on policy is at its best; they’ll tell you anything to get elected.

Has anybody given any thought as to what would happen if these “Democrat peas” would succeed in eliminating fossil fuels? Political bureaucrats and energy policymakers do not understand that our society thrives and flourishes because of the 6,000 products made from fossil fuels. One 42 gallon of oil creates 19.4 gallons of gasoline and the rest, over half, is used to make things like plastic, which is used in almost everything we use — cars, houses, toys, computers, telephones, clothing, tires, asphalt for road construction, fertilizer to grow crops, hand lotion, shampoo, medical equipment, footballs and helmets, eyeglasses, heart valves, crayons and artificial limbs — 6,000 items!

Take these things away and what have you got? Back to the 1800s and the dark ages.

Wind and solar only produces a small amount of unreliable electricity and cannot produce any of the above items to contribute to human flourishing. On the other hand, oil and gas produce everything! But our Democrat “peas” want to “kill the goose that laid the golden egg” or “bite the hand that feeds it.” Doesn’t make one bit of sense.

Personnel concerns

Editor:

Per an Inspection of Public Record Act request, I was able to review the applications submitted for the deputy county manager position. There was a fair amount of very qualified applicants and at least three to four were excellent and were more qualified than the person ultimately selected.

The person selected, a former county commissioner, was not, in my opinion, the most qualified. The current county manager, I think, is close to retirement and it seems a little coincidental that a former commissioner was selected.

And while on this subject, another position in the county clerk’s office, I understand, is available. Hopefully, there will be a fair search for that assistant position.

All positions within the county system are vital and impact all residents of Valencia County. There are many qualified individuals who hopefully do not lose hope when engaged in the process of improving their lot in life.
