Better late than never for Salazar of Valencia High
It may have taken longer than she would have liked, but recent Valencia graduate Lilly Salazar has found a college to extend her soccer career. Salazar has committed to Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colo.
“I’m really excited to get the opportunity to continue playing because soccer is such a big part of my life,” Salazar said. “It’s not something I’m ready to lose yet.”
Salazar was questioning if she would get a chance to play collegiately, but with tournaments still ahead for her club team, “I still had a chance to put myself out there,” she said.
Late this spring, Otero JC coaches viewed game film and offered Salazar a roster spot.
After playing a number of positions for VHS, Salazar expects to be a striker for the Rattlers. Salazar plans to pursue a career in radiology.
