BREAKING: Belen postpones FB game til Saturday morning; LLHS, VHS on alert
Belen's varsity football game tonight has been postponed due to possible lightning and inclement weather, and Los Lunas and Valencia High could be affected by possible storm activity in the area as well, the News-Bulletin has learned.
Belen athletic director Jim Collins confirmed that the Eagles' varsity game against Valley was postponed until 11 a.m. Saturday morning (tomorrow). Tonight's planned tailgate for the game has also been pushed to Saturday at 9 a.m.
Tomorrow's girls and boys soccer double-header against Manzano is still scheduled to be played at Belen High, with the girls taking the field at 10 a.m. and the boys on at noon.
Los Lunas and Valencia High FB plans
Los Lunas AD Bill Hays said that both Los Lunas and Valencia High's homecoming games tonight remain scheduled to start at 6 p.m. as planned.
Should the Tigers' district game against Albuquerque Eldorado not be able to be started or stopped due to multiple lightning delays, the Tigers will play the Eagles Saturday (tomorrow) at 12:30 p.m.
The Jaguars' game against Cuba tonight is not a district game. Hays said the hope is that the Jags can at least get the game to halftime so that it counts as a completed game.
Tonight's VHs-Rams clash is a non-district game, so if the game is unable to be played or ended due to too many lightning delays, the game will not be rescheduled.
