High school hoop standouts net postseason honors

With the final high school basketball games now in the books for 2024-25, honors season is underway.

Earning a spot on the All-State 4A Girls Basketball First Team, as selected by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association, is Valencia senior guard Jadyn Montoya, who led the Jaguars into the state semifinals.

Montoya, an honorable mention choice last season, led VHS in both points (16.0) and steals (3.4).

All-District selections for area teams include Montoya, runner-up as Player of the Year in District 5-4A; Kayla Finley, a Los Lunas freshman, named District 5-5A first team; and the LLHS boys with nine players selected All-Academic.
