Jalin Holland hits scoring milestone
LOS LUNAS —Los Lunas standout Jalin Holland passed 2,000 points for his career Saturday, reaching the milestone during his junior season.
The 6-4 guard passed the mark with a 42-point performance against Santa Fe Capital, raising his season average to more than 25 points per game. Travis Julian, the LLHS basketball coach, said Holland had 2,008 points entering Wednesday’s home game against Rio Grande.
Holland has been offered dozens of college scholarships, including from some of the top basketball programs in the country.
In boys’ basketball Tuesday, Grants went on the road to Belen (8-17, 1-6) and defeated the Eagles 79-74.
Valencia (11-14, 0-7) lost at Highland 67-53. The Jaguars host Belen Friday.
Los Lunas (17-8, 8-1) stayed very much in the girls District 5-5A race with a 44-38 victory at Highland. Friday, the Tigers host district leader Albuquerque High to end the regular season.
Also Friday in girls basketball, Belen is at Valencia. Tuesday, Belen (11-14, 3-4) defeated Grants 38-35 while Valencia (15-10, 4-3) downed Highland 54-36.
