LOS LUNAS — Los Lunas track standouts Demetrio Pino and Dominique Armijo have both committed to the track and field program at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo.

Pino and Armijo are helping to expand the Skyhawks focus to include jumping events. Previously, Fort Lewis only recruited distance runners and sprinters.

“We get the opportunity to be one of the first,” said Armijo.

“That will be pretty cool,” adds Pino.

Armijo and Pino will focus on the long jump, although Armijo is ready to be a sprinter if needed.

“He (coach Dalton Graham) saw potential in us, and that’s what really drew me to the school,” Armijo said.

“Durango is beautiful,” Pino said. “It’s really nice.”
