LLHS wrestlers second at Vivian Invite
Los Lunas was runner-up to Aztec Saturday among 20 teams at the Sammy Vivian Invitational wrestling tournament in Socorro.
The Tigers were led by 160-pound champion James Bachicha, who also took first last week in the Conflict at Cleveland.
Aaron Ramirez (fourth), Andres Romero (second), Ayden Cordova (third), Aaron Pyle (fourth) and Treg Sanchez (third) also placed for LLHS.
Belen did not send a varsity squad to Socorro but still came in 10th. The Eagles were led by Jassiah Padilla (fourth), Jordan Hunter (fourth), Tristan Lopez (fourth) and Leland Atencio (fifth).
Levi Salcido (fourth) was the top Valencia wrestler, as the Jaguars finished in 14th place.
In girls wrestling, BHS was fourth behind Aztec at the Lady Warrior Invitational in Socorro. The Eagles top finishers were Aliyah Trujillo (fourth), Lisette Sanchez (second), Olyvia Sanchez (third), Linsey Sanchez (third) and Olivia Ortiz (second).
LLHS was eighth out of 17 teams at the Lady Pinto Invitational in Moriarty, with Bloomfield taking the team trophy. The Tigers’ Haidyn Garley was the champion at 185-pounds, racking up three pins. Natalia Moreno (fourth) and Janie Wheeler (third) also placed.
