Local teams excel in WGA Fall Frolics

October activities for the Women’s Golf Association centered around the annual Fall Frolics Tournament which took place on Monday, Oct. 20.
Eleven teams competed in two flights with local teams dominating in both flights.
Flight one, First Gross, was the local team of Berta Murzyn, Kathryn Bayless, Regina Chavez and Jeannie Burleson.
Two local teams tied for First Net in Flight One. One team was Edie Redfearn-Moore, Marilyn Jaramillo, Lina Castillo and Tammie Fuller, and the other was the team of Berna Jaramillo, Becca Gallegos, Jennifer Montano and Shannelle Tafoya.
In Flight Two the local team of Suzanne Coudert, Anna Martinez, Bernadine Cordova and Lisa Castillo won First Gross, followed by the local team of Fran Griffeth, Marilyn Winters, Janel Lowery and Robin Boyd taking Second Gross.
The overall tournament was a success, and the WGA would like to thank all sponsors for their support.
The monthly scramble was held on Oct. 1. Winners were M. Jaramillo, Fuller, and Griffeth, followed by Murzyn, Winters and Joanne Romero in second place.
Chip-ins for the month were made by Redfearn-Moore, Murzyn and M. Jaramillo. A birdie was scored by Fuller.
In the monthly Ace competition, Bayless won in the Ladies 18 division, with no winners in the Ladies 9.
First Gross winners throughout the month were Bayless, Valdez and Murzyn with four in the Ladies 18 division. Griffeth was a four-time winner in the Ladies 9 division.
In November, which is the final month of play for the season, the featured play day was the Turkey Shoot on Nov. 19.
Officers for the 2026 season were elected at the general meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
