LOS LUNAS — Adelina Villanueva and McKaylee Burt are going from teammates to rivals.

The Los Lunas soccer players have signed National Letters of Intent to play for competing schools in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Adelina Villanueva, a defender, has signed with New Mexico Highlands University.

“I have family from there,” Villanueva said about Las Vegas. “I’ve always loved soccer. I’m very happy I get to keep playing.”

Alamosa, Colo., is the next stop for Burt, who will play midfield at Adams State University.

“They’ve been rebuilding and that is something I’m really excited to be a part of, to rebuild the program back to what it could be.”
