Soccer teams open district season
District action is underway in high school soccer. In 4A,the Valencia boys and girls entertained St. Pius Tuesday. The VHS boys (5-5-1, 0-1) gave up a goal late to fall to the top ranked Sartans 1-0. After a 1-0 first half, the Valencia girls (3-7, 0-1) lost 7-0 to number three St. Pius.
Both the Belen girls (4-9, 1-1) and boys (1-13,0-2) host Grants Thursday.
In 5A girls, ninth ranked Los Lunas was 9-2 overall and 1-1 in district play heading into Wednesday’s contest at Santa Fe Capital. The LLHS boys (3-9, 1-1) hosted Capital Wednesday.
