It is called “cross country” for a reason as runners navigate the course at the Adron Gardner Cross Country Classic.

James Killcullen, Eneas Armijo and Isaac Gonzales swept the top three spots to lead LLHS. Killcullen traveled the 5000 meter course in a time just under 17:09, seven seconds ahead of Armijo.

Centennial was team runnerup, followed by BHS. Kyle Glodt was the Eagles top runner with a fifth-place showing.

In the girls’ race, Belen’s Lisette Sanchez racked up another individual victory in a time of 20:38, 21 seconds in front of Cecilia Campos of Chesterton Academy. Sol Romero was 14th overall for LLHS. Centennial edged Belen in the team battle.

Valencia did not enter a team for the meet.
