A dominant attack Tuesday helped Los Lunas, in blue, sweep Gadsden, setting the stage for Thursday’s showdown against Cleveland.

It’s early in the volleyball season, but Los Lunas has yet to drop a game in two easy victories.

Tuesday, LLHS (2-0) rocked Gadsden 3-0 behind a powerful hitting attack led by Lynae Hands, who had double digits in kills.

Los Lunas swept Roswell last week on the road. Madison Pruitt had 11 kills for the Tigers, while Cambria Casillas added 23 assists. An early season test comes Thursday, when the Cleveland Storm visit Los Lunas in a battle of teams that reached the 5A semifinals in 2024.

BHS will look to improve to 2-0 Thursday with a visit to Santa Fe Capital. The Eagles won their season opener last Thursday at Bloomfield in straight games, with Mackenzie Soiles leading the attack with eleven kills.

The home opener for BHS is Tuesday against Espanola Valley.

On Thursday, Valencia will finally take the court, visiting Rio Grande in the Jaguars’ first game of the season. After a trip to Gallup on Saturday,

VHS plays Sept. 5-6 in a Moriarty tournament, facing Bosque in game one.
