Two Belen softball players sign to play college ball
BELEN — Lorissa Scott and Jaylyn Boozer, from the improving Belen softball program, will continue their playing careers at New Mexico colleges next fall.
Eastern New Mexico University, in Portales, has landed Scott, who will pitch and play second base for the Greyhounds.
“I think it’s the perfect school for me. I’m just so excited I found the right fit,” said Scott before the signing ceremony on the BHS softball field. “The college, my family and the program all clicked together. I really love the school and the academic side of things.”
Boozer, pitcher and outfielder, has signed with Luna Community College in Las Vegas, N.M.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to play college softball,” Boozer said. “I wouldn’t want to do anything else.”
After two years at LCC, Boozer hopes to make the jump to a four-year college.
“It’s been fun. I love it,” said Boozer about her journey.
Both Boozer and Scott will study business.
