Los Lunas (3-3) posted a 3-0 victory last Thursday over Valencia (0-6-1) in girls’ soccer, with two goals from McKaylee Burt and one from Adelina Villanueva. Lilly Salazar made a number of excellent saves for VHS.
On Tuesday, LLHS fell to Farmington, 8-4, while VHS lost 3-0 to Kirtland Central.
Belen is 5-1 after Tuesday’s 11-1 victory over Del Norte. Addison Carter scored seven goals.
On the pitch Tuesday for the boys, improving BHS (4-2) fell to Del Norte 6-1. Los Lunas (0-7) and VHS (1-5-1) have had rough starts, with both facing difficult schedules.
Volleyball
Valencia and Belen have been impressive under their new head coaches. Tuesday, VHS downed Espanola Valley 3-0 to move to 6-2 under Martha Sisneros.
Friday, Buddy York leads BHS into the Santa Fe Tournament with a 4-0 record.
Tuesday, Los Lunas (3-2) earned the top seed in its pool for the Metro Tournament and Thursday bracket play gets underway.
