Highlighting the month of June for the Women’s Golf Association was the President’s Cup competition on June 25.

Winning the Ladies 9 category was Fran Griffeth who also won the Ace Day competition on the same day. The winner of the Ladies 18 President’s Cup was Paula Valdez who coincidentally also won the Ace Day competition that same day.

Play days for the month of June began on June 4 with the meeting day scramble.

Placing first was the team of Edie Redfearn-Moore, Paula Valdez, Sandy Watts and Regina Chavez.

Second place went to Marilyn Winters, Kathryn Bayless, Griffeth and Anna Martinez.

During the month, one birdie was scored by Bayless, and there was one chip-in by Kristine Barrett and one by Valdez.

On a special note, Watts broke a score of 100 for the first time at Tierra del Sol.

Throughout the month, First Gross winners in the Ladies 9 division were Dorothy Lindberg and Griffeth with two. In the Ladies 18 division, Watts had one First Gross win, and Berta Murzyn had two.

Looking at the month of July, there are no major tournaments. WGA members will assist throughout the month with the TDS Junior Golf camp and activities.

New WGA members are always welcome. If interested, please contact Edie Redfearn-Moore at 505-864-7015.
