Los Lunas Schools accepting applicants for board of education vacancy

The Los Lunas Schools Board of Education is accepting letters of interest from individuals wishing to fill the now vacant District 1 board seat until it expires on Dec. 31.

Justin Talley announced his resignation from the position last week because he is moving out of his district.

The position will be on the ballot on Nov. 4 for re-election.

A letter of interest containing the following must be submitted to the office of the superintendent, 119 Luna Ave., Los Lunas, by 4 p.m., Friday, June, 13.

•A narrative statement of candidates reasons for seeking the position

•Qualities or skills the candidate would being to the board

•Intention to serve for the remainder of the term

•Declaration that the physical address provided is their permanent, legal residence and at least one example of physical address verification

•Statement of willingness to participate in a public interview or forum

•Notarized state that individual is not convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.
