Southwest Model Railroad Museum to join in the Socorro Train Show
The Socorro Toy Train Show for 2025 is bigger and better than ever.
The show this year will be on Saturday, Aug. 16, and will be held at the Socorro City Convention Center on N.M. 60 SW, next to the rodeo grounds. From either exit on I-25 just follow the signs.
The show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and admission is $3 per person and $5 for families.
This year, the show will feature five operating toy train layouts that will include the Socorro Train Gang’s annual Christmas Raffle layout. Also featured will be the Train Collector’s Association (TCA) large “O” scale layout, a large “HO” layout sponsored by the Southwest Model Railroad Museum in Belen and the return of the Summerville & Northlands model railroad.
A new feature this year will be four, one half-hour seminars that will include tips on how to build a layout, care and feeding of your model trains, a primer on the DCC control system and a video update on the restoration of former Santa Fe Steam Engine No. 2926.
There will also be numerous vendors available to sell model railroad equipment. There will be food truck on site for both breakfast and lunch. The show will include half hourly door prize drawings and a final grand prize at the end of the show. Tickets for door prizes are $1 each or 6 for $5.
