Children’s summer reading program
The Belen Public Library children’s summer reading program — Color Our World — begins on Thursday, May 22.
The program is for children up to 12 years old. Sign up at the library’s open house from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, May 22 or online at belen-nm.gov/belen-public-library.
The summer reading program ends on Thursday, July 31, at the library’s end-of-summer party. The library is also offering summer reading programs for teens and adults.
Teen summer programs
All programs begin at 2 p.m. Teens do not have to attend the summer programs to register for the summer reading challenge.
•Mondays: Kinda’ Quiet Book Club; hang out with others, read and discuss page-turning adventures. Immediately after, enjoy the library’s Anime Club.
New to the teen program rotation this year is the Mystery & Mayhem Society, where teens will delve into thrilling, teen appropriate, true crime stories, chilling ghost tales and edge-of-your-seat suspenseful fiction. Each week there will be a discussion of these gripping reads and documentaries that keep you guessing until the very end. Come for the intrigue, stay for the discussion, snacks, and refashioning.
•Tuesdays: Express your unique style and breath new life into your wardrobe with refashioning, a one-of-a-kind opportunity to transform your clothes into personal masterpieces. Materials available during the library’s new Mystery & Mayhem Society.
•Thursdays: Get your game face on with Tabletop Games, where you can challenge friends and make new ones in epic battles or hilarious adventures
•Fridays: Either a family activity or teen-only activities

The Bosque Farms Public Library will be holding its summer reading program from Monday, June 9, to Friday, July 18. All ages are invited to participate and sign up begins Monday, June 2.

Summer reading program
Color Our World/Colorea Nuestro Mundo
The Los Lunas Public Library’s summer reading program kick off party and registration will be held from 10:30 a.m., June 4, with snacks, gaming, board games and a rock climbing wall. You can also participate online by going to llpl.readsquared.com to register.
Turn in reading logs by Saturday, July 19. The prize raffle announcement will be made on Facebook on Saturday, July 26.

•1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 5: Build a variety of robots with Cubelets
•1:30 p.m., Friday, June 6: Get creative and create a scene with text, images and color using Canvas Collage
•10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 11: Scrapbooking with Mrs. Cathy
•Thursday, June 12: Tour the Spaceport America, ages 13 to 19. Sign-up is required due to limited space. Transportation provided. Call the library at 505-839-3850 to sign up.
•11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, June 12: Cookbook Potluck at the Los Lunas Rail Runner Station, 101 Courthouse Road. Submit a recipe to the Valencia County Cookbook by bringing a dish to the potluck. Only submissions brought to the potluck will be printed in the cookbook for quality control. Submissions for the cookbook close June 12.
•10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 18: Story Creations by Denise Guard and her dogs, Joey and Kira. Bring your stuffed animals so they can sleep over at the library until Friday afternoon.
•4 p.m., Friday, June 20: Rocky Mountain Puppets pajama party. Wear your pajamas and pick up your stuffed animals after their sleep over!

•2:30-5:30 p.m., Monday, June 30: Wonders on Wheels mobile museum features an interactive exhibit about the peoples and cultures in New Mexico history. Designed for visitors ages 4 to 14.
•4 p.m., Wednesday, July 2: Summer reading quilt embroidery; come embroider squares to patch together for our summer reading quilt. If you don’t finish, come to the other sessions, 4 p.m., Friday, July 18, or Wednesday, July 23.

Summer reading
Registration for the Rio Communities Public Library’s summer reading program — Color Our World — is open until 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 28. Each age group will get a reading log for their reading level and must read 10 books. Reading logs must be turned in by 4 p.m., Thursday, June 12. Prizes will be handed out on Tuesday, June 17.
