Belen Fire Department crew receive training, certifications

BELEN — Belen Fire Chief Charles Cox acknowledged and congratulated three of his crew members for attending and graduating from different training courses to better serve the citizens.
Cox said Fire Marshal Kenneth Vance attended and completed a fire inspector class in September at the National Fire Academy, and is now a certified fire inspector II.
Vance also attended the Alabama Fire College, where he was certified as a plan examiner I, and just completed his fire investigation technician course at the International Association of Arson Investigators, Inc.
BFD Lt. Christopher Martinez also attended the National Fire Academy and became certified in command and control of incident operations. He also became certified as an emergency medical technician intermediate.
Michael Wessels, the interim deputy chief, also became certified in command and control of incident operations at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
