Burglars break through brick wall to steal several four-wheelers

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in helping solve a burglary case in which several four-wheelers were stolen from a local business.

Valencia County Sheriff’s Detective Rene Rivera said he is looking for the person or people responsible for stealing four Kawasaki four-wheelers from the John Deere Equipment Dealer on NM 314. Rivera said the burglary occurred either late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

“When we arrived on scene Monday morning, we located a five-foot-by-five-foot hole in a brick wall on the west side of the business,” Rivera said. “We found one of the four-wheelers stuck in a trench on the outside of the wall.”

The trench had been built around the business’s property for security reasons, Rivera said. The detective said he also found several crowbars near the scene which he believes were used to make the large hole.

Rivera said, upon further investigation, three other four-wheelers, which were stored in crates outside of the business, were found to be missing.

With assistance from the Belen Police Department, one of the stolen four-wheelers was recovered late Monday night at a vacant mobile home located on Camino del Llano in Belen.

“We’re looking at several suspects, but we still need to locate two forest green-colored stolen four-wheelers,” Rivera said.
