El Cerro woman killed; deputies looking for suspect, Gilbert Duran

EL CERRO MISSION — The death of an El Cerro Mission woman is being investigated as a homicide by the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office.

About 7:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 4, deputies were dispatched to a home in El Cerro Mission, where Rebecca Baldonado, 37, was found dead.

A warrant for an open count of murder has been issued for Gilbert Duran, 43, of Los Lunas, in connection to the death. Duran is considered armed and dangerous.

The the death is still under investigation, and VCSO detectives are working with the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator to identify the cause of Baldonado’s death.
