Alvin Keeney

1949-2024

Alvin Keeney, age 75, of Belen, passed away on Nov. 1, 2024.

He was a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, and dedicated his life to being a minister of the gospel of Jesus.

He is preceded in passing by his wife of over 40 years, Pat Keeney.

He is survived by his only son, Ben Keeney; daughter-in- law, Amy; and grandson, Will, who he loved dearly.

Alvin enjoyed making parody songs from old hymns, carving wooden walking sticks and assisting in disaster relief efforts. His favorite music was gospel acapella, which fit right in with his adoration and love for Jesus and his church. His generosity and humor was bountiful, and known by many.

The best memories with Alvin were the long drives across New Mexico that he took with his family. Yelling at the refs during Ben’s basketball games is another memory engrained into cherished memory.

Alvin was a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, servant of the Lord and respected community member. His life will be missed, but his presence will live on in the hearts of many.

Services for Alvin will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Sierra Vista Baptist Church in Belen. A visitation will take place at 9 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. Alvin will then be placed to rest at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
