Born in 1941 to her parents, Ruben and Neph Baca, Anna dedicated her life to her faith, family and community. After raising three children, Anna spent her time working and volunteering with children as a Belen Middle School secretary and also as a Sunday school teacher.

As a member of the Spanish Baptist Church of Belen and later, First Baptist Church of Belen, she actively participated in church events, volunteered and supported fellow congregants. Her unwavering commitment to her spiritual journey left a lasting impact on those around her.

Anna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Gutierrez; her grandson, Jacob A. Nixon; and siblings, Lupe Carter, Mary Ann Smith and Ruben Baca Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Gutierrez-Nixon (Bernard); her son, Greg Gutierrez; and son, Lucas Gutierrez (Natasha). Anna is also survived by sisters, Eileen Brubaker, Dolores Vallejos and Bernadette C de Baca; grandchildren, Zachary Gutierrez, Bernard Nixon III, Miranda Gutierrez, Sara Nixon, Rebekah Gutierrez, CJ Gutierrez, Cameron Gutierrez, Cillian Gutierrez and Conor Gutierrez.

Her legacy extends beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of countless friends, neighbors and church members.

Due to Anna’s prolonged illness, she was unable to hold services upon the 2021 passing of her beloved husband, Richard. Therefore, family and friends will be remembering both Anna and Richard at a celebration of life memorial service to be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, July 27, at First Baptist Church of Belen. Friends and family are invited to join together to honor their memory and find solace in their shared faith.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Thrive Global, an organization dedicated to delivering healthy meals to hungry schoolchildren in Bangladesh, globalgiving.org/fundraisers/51580/ or to the National Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation cholangiocarcinoma.org/donate.
