Carolina Sanchez Romero, age 88, a lifelong resident of Tomé, passed peacefully in her sleep on Aug. 30 surrounded by those she loved.

Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Tuesday, Sept. 17, beginning with a visitation at 11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12 p.m. A reception will follow the services.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Higinio Romero; son, Ruben (Terri); daughter, Mary Louise Garcia (William); grandchildren, Christian, Corey, Matthew, Collin, Gerad (Serena), and Alexis and her fiancé, Nikolas; great-grandchildren, Parker and Melina; sister, Corine Gabaldon; and nieces, Kathryn and Rosemary Gabaldon.

Caroline is preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Senaida Griego-Sanchez, of Tomé.

She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomé. Caroline worked from home and filled her days with quilting, baking, reading, garage sales and, her favorite hobby, hosting visitors. She loved cooking for her family and friends any time she could, and nobody will ever forget her famous tortillas and biscochitos.

In place of flowers, the Romero family kindly requests a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Society (pancan.org).
