1952-2023

We are sad to announce the passing of Cathy Delgado Tafoya, age 71. Cathy passed away on May 28, 2023, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was with her loved ones at the time of her passing.

She grew up in Los Lunas, raised her family in La Joya, and lived for a time in Albuquerque. She moved to California to be with her daughter, Melissa, and help raise her grandchildren.

She was a resident of Mesquite, Nev., at the time of her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Florencio and Teresa Delgado; daughter, Terry Tafoya; and brother, Bonifacio Lopez.

She is survived by her life partner, Victor Madrid; son, Michael Tafoya; daughter, Melissa Newman and husband, David Newman; grandchildren, Alexis Mirabal and Caleb Newman; siblings, Viola Lopez, Phillip Delgado (Lorraine), Luis Delgado (Jan), Michael Delgado (Margie), Maria Mowrer and David Delgado (Mary); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a grave site service at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 15, at the Los Lentes Cemetery.
