Dean Roland Stanfield, a resident of Bosque Farms, was called home by God on March 13, 2024, after 98 full years of hard work, joy, love and adventure.

Services will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta on Wednesday, March 27, beginning with a visitation at 10 a.m., with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with an interment at 2 p.m. at Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe.

He was survived by his daughter, Denise Garcia (Martin); grandchildren, Estevan and Adan Garcia, and Avila Dear (Kyle); great-grandchildren, Remi, Rhett and Tatum Dear; and sister, Sandra Wiley (Les); and a large extended family.

Dean is preceded in death by Flora Mae Davalos Stanfield, Emma Brown and Lupe Guthrie; parents, Irvin and Thressa Morris Stanfield; and brothers, Keith, Gail and Boyd; and sisters, Doris, Lois and Dixie.

He was born on Dec. 4, 1925, to Irvin and Thressa Morris Stanfield in Triplett, Mo. Leaving school early to support his family in the final years of the Great Depression, Dean later earned his GED and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico.

In 1960, he began a loving marriage with Flora Mae. On Oct. 9, 1961, they gave birth to Denise Revè. As a civil servant, Dean served his beloved country for 37 years at Los Alamos National Labs, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Transportation. He retired in 1993 as a system engineer with the Federal Aviation Administration.

In 1990, Dean welcomed three grandchildren. Shortly after, he faced the loss of Flora Mae in 1991. Dean later found love and companionship in Emma Brown. In the final decade of his life, he shared a new love and adventures with Lupe, spending several years together in San Carlos, Mexico.

Throughout his life, Dean was kind-hearted, generous, an avid traveler, a skilled musician and a storyteller, who could build and repair anything.

The family expresses special gratitude to the Ambercare Hospice team of Belen. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe St. Vincent de Paul, PO Box 10, Peralta, N.M., 87042.
