Dennis L. Sweatt, age 67, resident of Belen, passed away on Oct. 6, 2024.
Services were held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
He is survived by his wife, Dena Gonzalez Sweatt; son, Justin Boroff (Jeanie); step-son, Kevin Finegan (Kaitlynn Kaiser); grandson, Zane; granddaughter, Raya; aunt, Linda Taylor (Michie); and cousins, Shon Taylor and Nicole West. Dennis was preceded in death by his loving parents, Delbert and Maxine Manize Sweatt; and brother, Melvin Sweatt.
He was a graduate of Permian High School, class of 1975. Dennis worked as a lineman and welder, as well as the proud owner of Sentry Services Inc. and Sentry Arms Gun Smithing. His dedication to his work in transmission and distribution projects with PNM was matched only by his passion for sharing knowledge with others.
In his leisure time, Dennis enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows, “Deadliest Catch” and “Gold Rush,” while cheering for Texas football. His hobbies included accessorizing his beloved truck, playing horseshoes and spending quality time with his dogs. He was known for his impeccable style, warm personality and long goodbyes.
Dennis’s kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a lover of animals, and treated them with the same tenderness and respect that he showed to people. Dennis was truly one of a kind. He was affectionately known as “Mr. P” for his perfection and resourcefulness, he had a gadget for every occasion and never knew a stranger.
Dennis was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dena, and cherished every moment spent by her side. He was a proud father to Justin Boroff, and Step-father to Kevin Finegan. He was also a proud, loving grandfather to Zane and Raya Boroff. Dennis was also a very proud fur father to Stormy, Cheyenne and Scruffy. His family was his greatest joy, and he took pride in being a significant part of their lives.
