Edward “Bub” LeClair Jr., 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his Belen home on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

Edward was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam war as a U.S. Navy Seabee.

Edward was born on July 29, 1947, in Casper, Wyo. Edward lived most of his life in Fort Washakie, Wyo., and was an enrolled member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe.

In Wyoming, Edward and his wife, Kathy, were rodeo stock contractors, ranchers and outfitters, along with their two sons, Shawn and Chad. Edward also had a career in construction as a heavy equipment operator. His career in construction is what brought the family to New Mexico in 1999.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elta Mae LeClair; grandparents, Edmo and Ester LeClair; and one brother, Curtis LeClair.

Edward is survived by his wife, of 55 years of marriage, Kathleen LeClair; sons, Shawn LeClair (wife, Frances) and Chadwick LeClair (wife, Heather); siblings, Alice Ferris, Roy (wife, Jeri) and Mitch (wife, Susan); grandchildren, Blake LeClair, Kolton LeClair, Colton (wife, Mikayla) Nix, Jordan (husband, Stetson) Schutte, Cody Garcia and Nic Garcia. Edward is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be no services at this time. Edward’s family will be taking his remains back to Wyoming at a later date.
