Eustacio “Eddie” Madrid, 88, of Albuquerque, passed away Jan. 17, 2023.
He was born in Nixon, Texas, on Sept. 20, 1934, to Eufemio and Gesusa Madrid. He married Sallie Chapa on Dec. 14, 1954.
The fifth of nine children, Eddie lived one of the fullest lives. He was a prankster, a minor league baseball player, a Golden Gloves boxer, a butcher, a painter, a coach and a dancer. He loved carpentry and working with his hands — even after he only had 9 1/2 fingers.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sallie; and two brothers and their wives, Regino and Lina, of Houston, and Raymond and Maria, of Chicago.
He was also a proud father to Connie, Vickie, Mary Grace, Manuel, Maria, Edward, Elizabeth and Anna and their spouses.
Eddie had so much love for his 23 grandchildren, Gabrielle, Jason, Adam, Danielle (Connie and Jay), Nicole, Joselyn, Alissa (Vickie and Eugene), Nathaniel, Mary Lee (Mary Grace Madrid and Lawrence), Krystian, Andre, Hayley (Manuel and Dora), Ian, Leah (Maria and Thomas Molina), Alexandria, Emilia (Edward and Melissa), Adriana, Mya (Elizabeth and Corey), Joaquin, Liliana, Lorena, Marisa and Mateo (Anna and Juan); 16 great-grandchildren, Nico, Año, Emma, Lisa, Avory, Collin, Ava, Justus, Michael, Bash, Sarah, Aspen, Jack, Lyla, Alaric and Allister; and one great-great grandson, Jesse.
He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Antonio, Theresa, Epifania, Felix, Soila and Marcelino; and his daughter, Vickie.
He was a member of San Clemente Parish.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the San Clemente Building Fund.
