Evangeline “Vangie” L. Moya, age 81, a resident of Bosque Farms, was called home to the Lord on Nov. 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta on Wednesday, Dec. 4, beginning with a visitation at 10 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 11 a.m., and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4.
She is survived by her three children, Yvonne Storey (Eugene), George Moya Jr. (Charmaine) and Angela Martinez-Moya (Consuelo); grandchildren, her greatest joys, Jarrod Storey (Ashley), Justin Storey (Janessa), Landon Moya (Sara) and Dalton Moya (Ashton); five great-grandchildren, whom she deeply cherished, and sisters, Dolores Gonzales and MaryHelen Mirabal (Stanley).
Vangie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Moya Sr.; parents, Leandro and Leonor Baca Barranca; siblings, Leandro Jr., Richard, Margarito, Orlando, Christina, Quirina, Logie and Margarita.
She was a devout Catholic and an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Peralta, where she was involved in the Legion of Mary, Altar Society, Marriage Enrichment, served as mayordomos of Sangre de Cristo Church, and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Guadalupe and to the homebound.
Those who knew Vangie will remember her warmth, generosity and love of sharing a meal. Whether it was her homemade tamales, enchiladas, sopapillas, beans, sweet treats, like fresh fruit empanadas, perfectly crafted biscochitos or punch cake, she was always ready to feed those around her.
Vangie had a special love for children and worked as a teacher’s aide in the Los Lunas Schools. She also opened her home to care for children, running a day care, where she treated each child as her own. Vangie’s legacy of love, faith and care will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Pallbearers will be Jarrod and Justin Storey, Landon and Dalton Moya.
