Gabe “John” Juric
Gabe “John” Juric
1939-2024
On Monday, May 20, 2024, John Juric passed away peacefully. John was born in Ely, Nev., on March 25, 1939, to Gabe and Katie Juric.
Katie had immigrated from Slovenia, and Gabe from Croatia. John was always very proud of his Slavic heritage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Emma; and his brother, Karl.
John is survived by his wife, Anita Hendrix Juric; his son, Gabriel Jack (Hollie); his sister, Jeanette Civerolo; bonus sons, Michael McFarland and Mark McFarland (Tanya); sister-in-law, Rondita Hendrix (Kevin); and grandchildren, Alex (Anna), Christine (Brady), Krystal, Hannah, Austin, Kylar, Tanner and Braden. He is also survived by nephew and nieces, Gia, Judi and James; great-nieces, Fortune, Katrina (Austin) and Riley; great-nephews, Jared and Holden; a great-great nephew, a great-great niece and 12 great-grandchildren.
John and his family moved to New Mexico from California in 1947. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1957, and from the University of New Mexico in 1962 with a degree in economics.
John married Brenda Feeman, of Hobbs, in 1967 and, in 1968, they became the proud parents of Gabriel Jack Juric. Also in 1968, the family moved to Kent, Ohio, where John worked for Schlitz Brewing Co.
In 1974, Albuquerque once more became their home. For several years, John and his brother, Karl, owned a package liquor store, Elite Liquors. For multiple years of his life, until his health interfered, John was the go-to guy for general contracting.
After many years of bachelorhood, John finally hit the jackpot and met Anita Hendrix, the love of his life. Their 24 years together were the perfect example of love given and love received.
John was loved for his kindness, his friendship, his humorous jokes and storytelling, and his loyalty. He was indeed a man among men.
The family would like to thank the following doctors for their dedicated professional care of John: Dr. Roland Sanchez, Dr. Adolpho Sanchez, Dr. Amyn Alidina and Dr. Tran of Lovelace Medical Center.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 13, at FRENCH – University. A reception will immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation (NMCCF), 4901 Lang Ave., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109 or nmcancercenter.org/foundation.
